Organ Transplant Units (Heart, Lung, Liver)
Every year, many people worldwide face organ failure. However, the shortage of donors increases the demand for organ transplantation. Heart and lung transplants rely on living donors, and as a result, the waiting list keeps growing while the number of donations remains insufficient. Each year, many individuals lose their lives while waiting for transplantation. The lack of sufficient knowledge and awareness among the public regarding organ donation contributes to the inadequate number of donations and fails to meet the demand.
In our hospital, on September 7, 1989, the first long-lasting heart transplant operation in Turkey was successfully performed. As of March 17, 2023, we have completed 246 heart transplant operations.
Since 2012, our hospital has successfully performed 150 lung transplant operations.
Starting from 2022, we will also begin liver transplant operations in our hospital.
