The Koşuyolu Cardiology Clinic has been a leading force in the diagnosis of heart and vascular diseases since our hospital's establishment in 1985, and it has become a reputable name both nationally and internationally with its numerous invasive intervention techniques. Since its inception, our clinic has been providing services primarily in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, performing approximately 100 angiographic tests and treatments daily, and around 25,000 annually, making it one of the top centers in Turkey and Europe in this field. Our cardiology team has achieved national and international success in all areas of cardiology, performing all types of percutaneous interventions with a high success rate. The clinic consists of a group of experienced senior physicians with a rich history of success and dynamic young specialists who keep themselves up-to-date with the latest advancements, putting patients at the forefront of their practice.
The Cardiology Clinic boasts the most modern and high-capacity Angiography and Hemodynamics Laboratory in the country, along with the most comprehensive Echocardiography Laboratory. After the recent renovation works, it has become one of the leading application centers in Europe as well. In 8 laboratories, services are provided to patients of all ages, ranging from infants to the elderly, including coronary angiography, hemodynamic catheterization, invasive percutaneous interventions, arterial stenting, permanent pacemaker implantation, and more. In addition, life-threatening conditions related to heart and vascular pathologies are treated with emergency percutaneous interventions continuously. The clinic has been instrumental in determining treatment methods for sudden pulmonary artery occlusions with internationally successful outcomes. It takes pride in being a center of excellence in Electrophysiology training in Turkey, offering permanent solutions for life-threatening or heart failure-related rhythm problems through mapping abnormal rhythm triggers, ablating these foci, and performing multi-focus permanent pacemaker applications.
The Cardiology Clinic utilizes 10 separate echocardiography laboratories to conduct advanced echocardiographic examinations such as cardiac ultrasound, transesophageal ultrasound, stress echocardiography, 3-dimensional echocardiography, etc. Furthermore, when necessary, this service is continued in the angiography laboratory as well.
Our highly experienced team of experts in the Koşuyolu Cardiology Clinic runs the 24-hour Emergency Service. It provides emergency care to an average of over 7,500 patients each month, making it the busiest clinic in Istanbul. With the principle of continuous invasive intervention, our clinic performs urgent coronary angiography and stent application to approximately 2,500 patients who present with acute heart attacks every year, saving their lives. In cases requiring urgent action, many cases of sudden death are reversed using the life support device (ECMO) available only in our hospital. The Emergency Service unit has a total of 17 observation beds and provides care for emergency intervention patients with 2 resuscitation beds.
The Cardiology Clinic operates a 27-bed Cardiology Intensive Care Unit and a 17-bed Coronary Intensive Care Unit, providing intensive care services. Patients with heart spasms or heart attacks are hospitalized and monitored in the intensive care units, and prompt coronary angiography is performed, followed by stent application if needed, to return patients to health as soon as possible with medical or interventional treatment. Istanbul's most high-capacity and active coronary intensive care unit houses an extensive medical team that adheres to a multi-disciplinary intensive care visit strategy involving all specialists to examine heart-related and non-heart-related health issues in patients and produce medical solutions. These units are also equipped to apply all types of advanced treatment protocols such as hemodialysis-hemofiltration, temporary heart support devices (ECMO, balloon support), mechanical respiratory support, etc.
The Koşuyolu Cardiology Clinic is composed of 12 faculty members (5 Professors, 7 Associate Professors), 17 academic staff (10 Senior Residents, 7 Associate Professors), 22 Specialist Physicians, and 29 Resident Physicians, carrying out medical and academic activities. Our team has contributed to hundreds of national and international scientific papers, book chapters, and congress participations, establishing itself as a model clinic in the academic field. Daily polyclinic services are provided in specialized areas such as regular polyclinics, specialist physician polyclinics, stress EKG polyclinics, INR polyclinics, arrhythmia polyclinics, Holter polyclinics, and cardiac rehabilitation polyclinics.
