Wound Care

Wound Care Unit:

The Wound Care Unit is a department where inpatients at risk of pressure ulcers are assessed, preventive care measures for pressure ulcers are applied, and appropriate care and treatment interventions are carried out to promote the healing of pressure ulcers if they develop. In our hospital, this service is provided by an expert team in this field. Stoma and wound care nurses assess the patient, the wound, wound care products, and wound care applications to decide on the most effective product and direct the team accordingly. Additionally, they conduct daily visits to patients to monitor the condition of the wound, maintain records related to treatment and care, and perform wound culture sampling.

In collaboration with physicians, they assist in the application of topical agents to the wound, as well as in mechanical debridement, chemical debridement, and surgical debridement. Throughout this process, they work in coordination with other healthcare professionals responsible for the patient's treatment and care, ensuring the exchange of necessary information. They also contribute to the field by providing in-service training within the institution, conducting case studies, and participating in clinical research.
