About the Clinic
Our Koşuyolu Thoracic Surgery Clinic has successfully performed the highest number of lung transplants in Turkey. We provide services for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the lungs and trachea, chest wall, mediastinal organs, and diaphragm using the most up-to-date diagnostic methods and tests. Particularly, we have achieved significant success in the surgical treatment of primary and secondary (metastatic) tumors and cancers of the lungs, which are among the most common diseases in the community. Our clinic offers effective solutions to address serious health issues related to lung diseases.
We are at the forefront of a new treatment area, chronic lung diseases, including bronchiectasis, where the airways within the lungs are affected. Functional improvement is achieved through airway dilation methods (bronchodilator balloon application), resulting in a significant increase in the quality of life for these patients.
One of our most important services is providing lung transplantation treatment opportunities to patients with lung failure of all ages. With our long-standing experience in lung transplantation, we maintain our leading position in this field in Turkey. Our team has performed a significant portion of lung transplantations in the country, sourcing lungs from all corners of Turkey and successfully transplanting them to our patients.
Another specific surgical treatment area is the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (chronic pulmonary hypertension) and severe respiratory failure caused by chronic blockages in the pulmonary arteries (chronic pulmonary arterial thrombosis) through a procedure called Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy. This involves cooling the body, stopping circulation and respiration with the help of a heart-lung machine, and removing the extensive blockages within the pulmonary arteries.
The Koşuyolu Thoracic Surgery Clinic is served by 1 Associate Professor (Education Instructor) and 2 specialist physicians. Three Pulmonology specialists are also part of the team, responsible for diagnosing and performing biopsies using bronchoscopy for all patients referred to the clinic.
